Welcome to EYFS!
At Luttons Primary Academy, we offer provision for 3 to 4 years olds to begin their foundations of learning and journey into school. We are extremely proud of the provision we have in place for our EYFS children which enables all of our children to thrive and make excellent progress in a safe and stimulating environment. We have a busy unit with a mix of pupils between the ages of 3 to 7 years old – this is because our EYFS children are based within our mixed aged class.
Our staff team work hard to plan a broad and balanced curriculum following the Early Years Framework, that fosters children’s curiosity and interests alongside enabling all pupils to learn and apply new skills. EYFS is a very special place full of learning, laughter and friendships where all children are happy, feel safe and valued. We provide the best possible educational provision in a stimulating and creative environment. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, supportive and fun learning environment in which children can explore and discover the world. In EYFS, we endeavour to ensure that every child has the best possible start to school life, by creating a calm and inviting environment where they feel safe and happy. We believe that relationships are key, both in school and with our families and this supports our little ones to settle quickly and make progress throughout all areas with confidence.
What does learning look like?
In the early years, we whole-heartedly believe in a child-led approach, every day is a new adventure as we follow the children’s interests, making play purposeful and learning exciting! We enhance provision to meet the needs and interests of every child, and each week we have focus children where we support them to make accelerated progress through their own personalised targets. Our nursery is based within our mixed age class and we know that children have made great progress because of this set up.
During the year, we really focus on developing the prime areas, as we believe that this builds the essential foundations, which help prepare children for a great start to Reception. We also deliver short phonics and maths activities each day, which are fun and engaging.
We use record our children’s learning and development on their dojo portfolio, where we can share photos and videos of the children’s learning.
