Our Curriculum Intent: Look Up, Aim High, Shine Bright!
At Luttons Primary Academy, our curriculum is the launchpad for every child’s future. We believe that education should empower children to Look Up at the world with curiosity, Aim High with their aspirations, and Shine Bright as unique individuals within our community.
Our Vision: Excellence and Character
We are a community built on the pillars of Excellence, Belonging, Trust, and Respect. We value each child as an individual, ensuring they develop their own “voice and identity” while flourishing within a team. We nurture pupils who are:
-
Respectful and Kind: Demonstrating tolerance and empathy in all they do.
-
Resilient and Independent: Developing the “inquiring minds” needed to thrive from a young age.
-
High Achievers: Driven by the school values of Respect, Resilience, and Kindness to reach their full potential.
An Odyssey of Discovery: Our Thematic Approach
We bring learning to life through a vibrant whole-school thematic approach. These thought-provoking themes act as a golden thread, connecting our classes and fostering a shared sense of wonder. Our knowledge-rich curriculum is designed to spark “curiosity and enthusiasm,” encouraging children to ask big questions about the world they inhabit. This empowered approach ensures our pupils are ready to step boldly into the next phase of their lives as lifelong learners.
A Dynamic Learning Journey
To provide a broad, balanced, and deeply immersive experience, Luttons operates on a sophisticated rolling cycle. This structure ensures a rich variety of content and deep subject mastery across the years:
-
EYFS & Key Stage 1: A vibrant 2-year rolling cycle (Year A and Year B).
-
Key Stage 2: An ambitious 4-year rolling cycle (Year A, B, C, and D) for core thematic subjects.
-
Specialist Cycles: For Science, PSHE, and French, Key Stage 2 follows a focused 2-year rolling programme to ensure concepts are revisited and embedded.
Current Compass: Our invigorated curriculum journey began in 2024, with all classes currently exploring the wonders of Year B.
At Luttons, we don’t just teach; we inspire. We challenge our children every day to look up at the possibilities, aim high in their efforts, and shine bright in their achievements.
The National Curriculum
The national curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject.
The National Curriculum sets out the minimum content for our curriculum. Please use the links below to find out what our children will be taught.
